Ynys-hir birdwatching guide
Ynys-hir runs from sessile oak woodland on the hillside down through wet grassland to the saltmarsh of the Dyfi estuary, and that span is what makes it exceptional: pied flycatchers and redstarts in the oaks above, wintering wildfowl on the marsh below. The reserve sits inside the Dyfi UNESCO biosphere and was the setting for BBC Springwatch for several years.
