Burton Mere Wetlands looks out over the Dee estuary from a patchwork of pools, reedbed and wet grassland on the Wirral side. Rising tides push huge wader flocks off the estuary and onto the reserve, and the same site holds breeding avocets and marsh harriers through the summer.
