Crom Estate birdwatching guide
Crom Estate wraps woods, parkland and a long freshwater shoreline around the islands of Upper Lough Erne, and the National Trust keeps a bird hide on the shore of Derrymacrow Lough for watching the water. Curlew records here peak in June, fitting the breeding waders the Erne shores are known for, and kingfishers show best in early autumn. The green route from the visitor centre to the old castle ruins is accessible, with powered mobility scooters and a loan wheelchair available, though some estate trails are not suitable for wheelchairs. Dogs are welcome on leads.
