Dove Stone birdwatching guide
Dove Stone climbs from a reservoir shore onto Pennine blanket bog that is being actively rewetted, and the restoration has brought back breeding golden plover, curlew and dunlin to ground that was bare peat. Ring ouzels nest in the cloughs, peregrines hunt the crags, and the contrast with Manchester twenty miles away is the point of the place.
